Miniature Hedgehog

Another cute animals who deserve to be your pet at home. Called mini hedgehog because it has a small body size. Here is a brief introduction about the mini hedgehog.

What is a mini hedgehog?

Mini Hedgehogs are generally known as a small mammal with a layer of rigid, ie pointy spines covering their backs. They have a pointy nose, and a slightly protruding eyes located on the side of the face. Their ears are usually round, although in some species, can be elongated, and situated high on the side of the head. They have a small tail and short, and functionally very little use. They can roll up like a ball of thorns when threatened.

Do hedgehogs are wild?

While it is true that the hedgehog mini is a species which has recently maintained, but the hedgehog mini that are kept are not wild animals. Mini hedgehog is a blend of two types of hedgehog, not a natural varieties.

Group of animals whether mini hedgehog?

Contrary to some beliefs, hedgehogs are not rodents. They are a group of animals insectivora, the same as animals such as moles, shrews, and Vole. They were not related to porcupines, even though a somewhat similar appearance caused many people misinterpret the mini porcupine (hedgehog) as a baby Porcupine.

Where mini hedgehog live in the wild?  

Basically, on the other side in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. There is no hedgehog species native North American or South American. That hedgehogs are most commonly kept as pets are usually from Africa. Hedgehogs are usually living in the plains region, in areas that are often hot and dry.

What do hedgehogs eat?  

Hedgehogs are considered insectivores, which means that their main diet is insects of various kinds. In addition, hedgehogs seem a bit opportunistic, and willing to eat small rodents, reptiles, ground nesting birds and fledglings eggs, and sometimes bits of plant materials such as vegetables and fruits.

How hedgehogs in the wild?  

Wild hedgehogs are usually solitary animals, except mothers with children, and spouse during the marriage. They often have a home territory where they base their odyssey around. Doe will often share the territory, although it remained separate in their own habits and behaviors. Buck may be more territorial, and less tolerant of other buck stalking the same region. They seem to enjoy taking advantage of the pre-dug holes made by other animals such as rabbits, hares, weasels, and other animals digger. They often close this hole with grass and leaves, creating a comfortable space where they can sleep in the daytime. Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals, they hunt and wander between dusk and dawn. Their distinctive slow motion, and a tendency to roll into a ball is the leading cause they feared 'predator'.
